"Ironstone is taken in great quantities from this mine; it is worked by Two Steam engines, one being of 24 horse power used for withdrawing the water, and the other of 15 horse power for withdrawing the mineral and refuse, the depth of shaft is 42 fathoms and the thickness of seam 11 inches; leased and worked by the Coltness Iron Company; and the property of John Storry Esqr Burnhead near Longridge."
