THEFT OF COAL. John James Connor, 135 Lanrigg Road, Fauldhouse, pleaded guilty by letter to having, on 7th June, from the pithead at Stonehead Coal Mine, Fauldhouse, stolen 250 lbs. of coal. The Fiscal said this was a case of a miner who was getting more coal than other people, stealing more coal. The police saw him carrying a bag along the street, and on asking what was in the bag the police were told by accused it was coal. He had a previous conviction. A fine of £6 or sixty days was imposed.
