WOODEND. - OPENING OF THE NEW LINE OF RAILWAY.

On Monday last, the first train of ironstone was drawn along the new line of railway from Woodend Pits, by one of the Coltness Iron Company's engines, and, as far as we can learn, all went on well. On the engine we observed T. C. Bell esq. C.E. ; John Greig, Esq., manager, Coltness Iron Works; William Symington. Esq., superintendent, Monkland Railway; Mr. Wm. Lamb, manager, Crofthead ; and Mr. John Waddell, contractor for the railway. As the opening of this railway will enable the Coltness Company to carry on their works to a greater extent and to better advantage, we wish them every success.
