    ARMADALE - Accident.

On Saturday last an accident occurred No. 14 coal and ironstone pit, Barbauchlaw. While one William Naismith, miner, was working the face in his compartment in the pit about ten o'clock in the morning, a large quantity of coal and stones fell from the face and roof on to his back, bruising him on the back and cutting him on the right knee. Peter Naismith, his son, was taking away the rubbish from beside his father at the time the accident occurred. He pulled his father out from under the mass and got him conveyed to the pit bottom. The poor man was taken home on a cart, and Drs Kirk, Bathgate, and Clark, Whitburn, were soon in attendance. Naismith is not considered dangerously hurt.
