Coal pit in the lands of Loganlea, associated with Loganlea No.1 pit. Sited close, or perhaps reused the shaft of Muirhousedykes (1) pit

  • The 1883 List of Mines records Loganlea No.2, owned by Loganlea Coal Co. manager Jas. Strachan, working the Wilsontown Main coal by the stoop and room method, employing 10 on the surface and 28 underground. The downcast shaft was 15.5' x 15.5' and 342 ft deep, the upcast was 12' x 5' and 220 feet deep. It was a non-fiery mine ventilated by furnace.
