Parish:
Bathgate, Linlithgowshire
Local authority:
West Lothian
Opened:
c.1850 ?
Closed:
c. 1850 ?
Current status of site:
A small loch created following opencast working of the area in c.2000

A pit in the lands of Torbane, presumed to be Torbane No.1 pit. No trace of the pit is shown on any edition of OS maps, but is marked on the Russel & Co. mining plan, c.1870, as a shaft to the RB. It was perhaps an unsuccessful shaft that was superceded by Torbane No.2?
