Ironstone pit in the lands of Crofthead lesser to the Mill Coal at 6 fathoms, and the Crofthead Slatyband Ironstone at 48 fathoms. The shaft was marked on a plan of 1843 and is shown as an operating pit on the 1855 OS map.
