    United Coal Company …. are beginning open a new seam, known locally the Mill Coal. At No. 19 Pit of Barbauchlaw, the United Company are breaking away this seam, which will in time employ a large number of miners. Other disused pits are expected to be opened shortly by the same company in this seam, so that in short time a new field will be in operation and give fresh impetus to mining in the district. ….........At No. 19 Pit of Barbauchlaw, where the Mill Coal being opened up, the colliery company, on Saturday, commenced operations in the sinking of air shaft for this seam.
