ARMADALE, PIT ACCIDENT. - About 11 A.M. on Wednesday, 1st inst., Wm. M'Cartney, aged 14, belonging Capers Rows, was engaged driving a pony drawing several empty hatches along the main road in No. 3 pit, Polkemmet, when quantity of stone fell from the roof and jammed him up in one of the hutches in which he had been standing. The boy remained in this position for about 20 minutes, when a miner named M'Nah, who had been surprised at the non-arrival of the hutches, came to look for them and had him removed and taken home. He was crushed about the body, one of his ribs being broken, but fortunately he is not dangerously injured.
