LANDS AND MINERALS FOR SALE IN THE COUNTY OF LINLITHGOW. THE FARM and LANDS of BURNBRAE, forming part of the Estate of Polkemmet, in the parish of Whitburn and county of Linlithgow. These lands extend to 103 imperial acres or thereby, of which 3 acres are planted. The arable lands are inclosed, and divided into suitable fields. They are let on lease to David Parker, which expires at Martinmas 1862. The present rent £60, but there has been considerable expenditure in the course of the lease on fencing and draining, an increased rent may be confidently looked for on expiry of the lease. The Lands are held of the Proprietor of the Estate of Polkemmet for payment of £3 Scots annually. Other burdens are moderate.
MINERALS. The Lands contain valuable seams of Parrot or Gas Coal, associated with Ironstone also thick seams of Household Coal and Limestone. These minerals have been satisfactorily proved by a series of bores, and are believed to form continuation of the Bathgate Mineral Field, being within short distance from the works of Russell & Co. on tbe Torbanehill property, and from those of the and other Companies the neighbourhood. The Parrot Coal has been found to 14 inches thick, associated, as is usual, with Rough Coal, Household Coals are also found in seams of feet 5½ feet , 3 feet, and 2½ feet thick. Direct access is obtained to the lands from the Edinburgh and Glasgow Road, and there is a station of the Wilsontown Railway at East Whitburn, being within half a mile of Burnbrae. LINLITHGOWSHIRE. MINERAS TO BE LET. To be Let, with Entry at Martinmas, for such period may be agreed on, THE GOING COLLIERY at BURNBRAE, Near Whitburn, in West Lothian. Two Seams of Coal are at present working by a Pit of moderate depth, and Ironstone of good quality was recently worked by a Pit to the rise of the field. Blackburn Spinning Mills are near the Colliery, and the Bathgate Morningside Railway the near vicinity of the Coalfield, and the Mid Calder and Clelland Railway is about to be formed a little Southward of Burnbrae. The present Lease expires at Martinmas, when an incoming Tenant will have opportunity of acquiring the Working Machinery, &c. Offers for a Lease will received by John & G.H. GEDDES, M.C. 9.
