Description
OS Linlithgowshire / Edinburghshire composite 6" to 1 mile, 1898, Seafield to Tarbrax.
With colour annotations of geology, detail shale workings, boreholes etc including the hand coloured basic geology of the area, on top of which are marked the mine workings of the Fells, Raeburn, Fraser shale workings as well as the Hurlet coal workings. It demonstrates how both narrow seams of coal were sometimes found in close proximity to shale oil. One of a collection of plans thought to have originated from Scottish Oils Ltd, handwritten dates ranging from 14/12/1916 to 22/06/1920. Shows Tarbrax Oil Works,Hermand Oil Works, Oakbank Paraffin Oil Works, Tarbrax No.5 (Lawhead) Mine , Tarbrax No. 1 Pit, Tarbrax No. 4 Pit.
