Description

Cast-iron bodied engineer's hand oil lamp with simple wick, 'Wells engineer's lamp no 4 patent' stamped on the front, circa 1923

Donor was former employee of Scottish Oils (41 years service). Started work at age 15 with Young's Paraffin Light & Mineral Oil Company Ltd, Hopetoun Works, mines, also worked for Broxburn Oil Company Ltd, Roman Camp Works, mines; Pumpherston Oil Company Ltd, Pumpherston Works and for Young's Paraffin Light & Mineral Oil Company Ltd, Pumpherston Works as an accountant
